How to extract frames from a video

Open the free extractor
Go to the Video to Images tool on the homepage. No account is required.

Upload your video
Drag an MP4, WebM, MOV, or other playable file onto the upload zone. The file is read locally; it is not uploaded to a remote server.

Choose Auto or Manual mode
Auto generates many frames using FPS or a total count. Manual lets you scrub and capture specific moments.

Set density and optional time range
Start with 1 FPS for long clips. Enable time range if you only need a segment. Watch the estimated frame count before you extract.

Pick JPG or PNG
JPG keeps packages small; use quality around 80% for most work. PNG is better for sharp UI.

Extract and download
Click Extract frames. Click a thumbnail for a single download or use Download all (ZIP) for the full set.
Tips for better frames
- Prefer the highest resolution source you have — upscaling later cannot invent detail.
- For talking-head videos, lower FPS (0.5–1) avoids near-duplicate faces.
- For action clips, raise FPS or use Manual on the peak motion.
- Cap runs when exploring settings; re-extract after you find the right density.
Alternatives
Desktop editors and FFmpeg remain better for multi-hour files or scripted server pipelines. For everyday video to frames and MP4 to images jobs on short clips, the browser tool is usually faster to start.
